Over this coming year, I will be sharing with you a number of “A Day in the Life of Me.” What I will share with you is a world around me that I have the privilege to bear witness to. You may agree or disagree with what I have captured in the frame of the image. But be reminded I share, that of which, tells the story of the world in perspective from behind a lens. If we step back from opinion and just appreciate the story and the moments in life that unfolds before us. I will bear to you without bias. I am a photojournalist, my job is to capture a world a round me. Each image has a story deeper than just one image can convey. But the image has power to open positive conversation for understanding, history, for personal journeys and from this we begin to tell a story.
Every week I am surrounded by people from all walks of life and from all places around the world. Some of the most brilliant minds in academia to a world of what we do everyday, to encompassing all disciplines of what we, individually do as our jobs, our goals, our passions that we set out to complete a task or we set out to change the world. We all have dreams. As I take the time to have conversations, to hear the story, the common thread, I find not only that everyone has dreams, I listen deeply to the person and hear the beginnings of a story. Unbiased by race, citizenship, opportunity, wealth and I strip away the identity of characteristics, What I find is we all have dreams and we all exist as one human race that is filled with compassion, progress, goals, experiences and amazing journeys. If we remove an opinion and witness a story, a raw, unedited, just life, story, we begin to create the art as a visual storyteller and for me as a photojournalist.
Today forward, I will work to share with you, “A Day in the Life of Me” as I interact and capture a world that is in full motion around me.
Enjoy the experience with me, take the time to absorb the story, the image and the experience. Read intently, look deeply, place yourself vicariously into the story, the image. Of course, your challenge is to view the images and read the stories without bias and without negative opinion, but to be compassionate to, and be understanding of….
Some of the images and stories I will bring to you are community, individual, landscape filled with history, experiences or filled with the awe of God’s work. This is my journey and I look forward to sharing with you.
